I’ve returned from a ‘news free’ weekend to find two things

  1. The are re-releasing the DMC Delorean electric powered!
  2. The government is trying to monitor everything! …essentially!

What will this new privacy law entitle the Intelligence Officers to do?

  • Identify who an individual or group is in contact with, how often and for how long
  • Access which websites someone had visited

Let me explain! You don’t need to be a terrorist or a radical person for them to pull the numbers on you. Scary right?

An industry official warned it would be “expensive, intrusive [and] a nightmare to run legally”. Probably true!

So far no petitions have popped up! But When it does you’ll here from me!

I read something today that blew my mind! …Reflection Eternal, Company Flow, the High and Mighty, Mos Def and Talib Kweli (as Blackstar), Eminem, Common, Pharoahe Monch, and Skillz which are all artists on Rawkus Records.

Bet your thinking ‘yeh, we know that? So What?’ Rawkus Records was financially backed by The! James Murdoch! BOOM!!!! Hear that drop, I did!

So this guy who has been demonised for the hacking scandal (which BTW I think was terrible but I doubt someone that high up the chain said ‘do it or you’re sacked’ – anyway the are literally paying for it) was integral to the launch and distribution of some of the most classic hip-hop albums ever produced!

So in visual format!

If James Murdoch hadn’t back Rawkus we may have never heard from Blackstar. That would have been a terrible thing. Mos Def’s lyrics have personally inspired me to ‘keep it moving’, as they say, and Blackstar is what gave him the opportunity to write Black on Both Sides. I can’t imagine a world without that album.

Just because they are rich and powerful doesn’t mean that they are evil. The Murdochs influence lots of lives through employment in their company and through their control of the media. It’s unfortunate that people always talk about the bad before the good. I’m sick of hearing the bad, I’m here to talk about the good!!

The Murdochs are getting a green tick from me this time round! Thanks for backing Rawkus Records and getting Blackstar and a whole bunch of other rappers (of records I still listen to) a chance to shine!
