I’ve been Creative Pt.2 – D.I.Y TRX Suspension Trainer
So. Yesterday I wrote about my creative day on Sunday! And how I decided to build a DIY product lightbox things despite my sever DIY handicap.
Next up is the TRX Suspension Trainer. Basically you tie this to a pull up bar and you have yourself a great apparatus for body weigh training.
What you need:
- 2 x 3.6 metres lashing straps -- (I bought 3 X 3 metres)
- Stanley Blade
- 2 X Climbing Carabiners
- 1 x Lighter (for searing the edges of the cut lashing straps
Then follow these instructions (sorry the sound of this video isn’t too good but it’s a good video):
***UPDATE AT END OF POST***
note: I used a water knot which is what I use for climbing slings so it should hold fine.
I had the carabiners in the house because I climb but you can buy a couple for about £15. All and all it cost my under £10 to make one and it works great.
Don’t skimp on the plastic tubing it’s necessary to give the system support and also stops unnecessary pressure on your hands.
I’m using this to train for very specific move that I do when climbing but you can use for just about any exercise.

For better stability I’ve looped the small loop back on itself so it’s now doubled up any more.
