He looks like Jesus maybe Chad Robertson (Tartine) is Jesus?

OK. Aye. Well. Now. I suppose my next post should be about leaven and what I’ve named my first culture of yeast but it’s not. Got on to a discussion on Twitter about the whole Chad Robertson is the Jesus of bread making. And I thought, ‘you know, he looks like Jesus. MAYBE HE IS JESUS!?’

Now. I’ll be the first to admit. I never met Jesus, nor did I see him from a distance so I don’t really know what he looks like. BUT thanks to the Catholic Church who have provided many paints of the chap I think I’ve got an idea of what the man, who grew up in one of the hottest places on earth, looked like.

Holy Sheeeeeeeit! (no pun intended)
You know, Jesus had a think for making lots of bread too!

Cookbook Binge!

So! I’ve changed jobs. Back to agenciland I go! On my departure from the fabulous s1 I received a gift voucher for Amazon, it’s the first one I’ve ever had and it’s possibly the best gift for someone that wants everything and nothing in particular!

As we all know, and if you don’t you are about to learn, I love cook and eating (n.b. this is not the same as loving food, generally the term ‘love food’ is mumbled from a fat bastards mouth!). I put the the voucher to good use. I’ve got a wish list of cook books the length of my arm on my Amazon wishlist so I bought 3 cookbooks and a CD (yes I bought a CD I didn’t pay for download, I was like my buying my first album all over again).

The books I bought were Cooking in the Moment: A Year of Seasonal Recipes by Andrew Reusing, Rose’s Heavenly Cakes by Rose Levy Beranbaum Page and Tartine Bread by Chad Robertson (this guy is described as the Jesus of bread making).

So far I’ve only make one thing from the books and that was a blackberry and apple pie, it was amazing!! I will do a few more recipes from each of the books over the next few week and let ya’ll know how it goes. But so far I’ve found the books to be excellent reads for those that are interesting fresh produce and the in’s and out’s and what’s and why’s of cooking. Definitely worth a buy.
