I’ve been Creative Pt. 1 – D.I.Y Product Lightbox

For those that know me, this doesn’t come as a shock -- I’m rubbish at D.I.Y! I can’t paint a wall! In saying that I seem to be able to construct things andĀ from time to time make it so it doesn’t fall apart (immediately).

On Sunday I decided put my hands to making a couple of things that I wanted but didn’t want to pay for…recession and all. The first was a lightbox the second was a home made TRX Suspension trainer.

Part 1 -- The DIY Product Lightbox

People will be like “why does he need one of those?”. Well I’m working on a climbing blog and as part of it I need to do some reviews of product, it’s nice to have your own branded images on a blog it also means you can focus on specific features of products that you are review.

Someone sent me a picture of the La Spotiva Solutions that they’d taken themselves…it made be sigh. The image looked like an eBay photo with flash reflections and under exposed. :(

There had to be a cheap solution to this. So I started Google’n product photography and found a DIY Lightbox tutorial. I didn’t follow it completely i.e. using IKEA frost paper but the rest was the same.

So what you need to create a DIY Product Lightbox is:

  • Cardboard box -- Crisp box will do
  • Stanley Knife -- Needs to be sharp
  • 3 x A2 Sheets Tracing Paper -- Medium weight
  • Duct or Parcel Tape -- I used green parcel tape because that’s all I had
  • 30cm ruler
  • 3 x Desktop laps -- 70Watt Bulbs

Then follow these directions:

I haven’t bought the lights yet. I used what I had around the flat. Here are some of the results I got:

When I buy the lights I’ll post an update and you’ll see how good it works.

The problem with these images is the inconsistent light coming from each angle, once the light is even from each side it will look the money. THE MONEY!!

The Last Week of My 20′s :(

So. It’s finally come to an end. I’m about to enter the 30′s…this is scary. I mean. Does this mean that I need to become all reserved and act ‘normal’??

Going by some of the people I know in their 30′s, NO! :)

I thought I’d compile a this of things that I did in my 20′s, as sort of check list of DONE:

  • Got Fit Again
  • Psychology Degree
  • Started a business
  • Left the Business
  • Knocked Unconscious
  • Ran Club Nights
  • DJ’d (In public)
  • Learned to Code
  • Got a Career in Online Marketing
  • Learned to Blog
  • Learned to Ride a Motorbike
  • Crashed the motorbike
  • Learned to Climb
  • Started an Online Business (not live yet)
  • Went to Vegas
  • Learned how to set-up and edit databases
  • Got tattooed
  • Got Louder
  • Started to build an extensive cookbook collection
  • Started to Learn French

Not a bad list considering that none of it was planned in anyway…and there is probably something’s that I’ve missed out.

One of my friends was slagging me about getting old and suggested that I should get “best before Jan 2012″ tattooed on my as

s…I was considering it :)

Next post I’ll do is favourite songs of my twenties! …I’m about to go into total mourning

It’s a Celebration Bitches!

…”people never get that joke” is what I found myself sounding out after the quip went down like a lead balloon at the Christmas night out during the MD’s speech. So why am I writing a post about it? Because this is what ‘blogga’s’ (in a London girls accent) explain themselves online…like anyone cares.

SO! The phrase “it’s a celebration bitches” is not at an attempt at being derogative to a group of people but instead a quote from the man himself Rick James. The quote was made famous after appearing on The Dave Chappelle (season 2) in the sketch Charlie Murphy’s (Eddie Murphy’s brother) True Hollywood Stories.

Charlie can explain it better than me!

Here is Eddie doing an impression of Charlie Murphy…which is pretty accurate.

…anyway. I hope this clears things up for future…and laugh next time BITCHES!
